MANGROVES

A mangrove is a shrub or small tree that grows in coastal saline or brackish water. The term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of such species.

Mangroves occur worldwide in the tropics and subtropics, mainly between latitudes 25 N and 25 S.The total mangrove forest area of the world in 2000 was 137,800 square kilometres (53,200 sq mi), spanning 118 countries and territories. A Visit to the Naval Academy is now available for school students as a field trip destination. It conducts " Be A Cadet For A Day - Hands On Experience

"for school students to give experience of marine life. Fire Fighting, First Aid, Museum Visit, Mangrove Study, Rescue and Life saving techniques, Navigation, Adventure Activities, Fun with knots are the various activities covered for school students.

MUMBAI HERITAGE VISIT

The students will be taken on a heritage tour of Mumbai city where-in they will get to know the city of Mumbai & its importance. Various spots like “Gateway of India, Rajabhai Tower,

Mumbai University, Mantralaya Building, Bombay Stock Exchange, Asiatic Library, etc.

AQUARIUM

A visit to the aquarium will help the students to know about the various water animals. They will get to know the various types of

fishes, turtles, water snakes, etc kept in the aquarium.

DOCKYARD VISIT

The Bombay Dockyard was established with limited dry docking facilities together with carpentry and smithy shops.

Over the period the yard has grown from strength to strength with steadily planned expansion of facilities. It was also known for its excellence in workmanship and quality.

BEST HERITAGE MUSEUM

A visit to the BEST museum will give knowledge to the students about the functioning of the BEST buses. Models of buses, trams,

HANGING GARDENS / KAMALA NEHRU PARK

The Hanging Gardens, also known as the Ferozeshah Mehta Gardens, are terraced gardens perched at the top of Malabar Hill,

on its western side, just opposite the Kamala Nehru Park. They provide sunset views over the Arabian Sea and feature numerous hedges carved into the shapes of animals.
